Trustees Meeting

January 24, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 4:08 p.m.  Present were Cathryn Clark-Dawe, Director, Nancy Picthall-French, Chairperson, Marty Bender, Treasurer, and Leslie Collins, Secretary.

The Secretary’s report for December was reviewed and accepted after two corrections were made.  The month was changed from September to November on this same line.  In Old Business,  on the 14th line beginning with “Reinstating the pass for the Fells was postponed until spring…”, was changed to, “The decision to reinstate the pass for the Fells was postponed until spring…”.

The Treasurer’s report through January 24 was reviewed and accepted.  Marty gave reimbursement checks to Nancy ($100) and Leslie ($25).  Within the budget, Marty combined three lines (DVD/CD, Books, Magazines) and created a new line called Media.  The budget balances should be reviewed each November.

Old Business

Marty did a test run with the new converter (EZCap) using one of his cassettes.  He would like to take some more time for additional exploration.

          Movies were chosen for the next five months:  Feb. 16th, Marshall @ 7:00 p.m., Mar. 16th, Roseanne for President @ 7:00 p.m., Apr. 18th, Paddington @ 2:00 p.m., May, 45 Years @ 7:00 p.m., June, The Big Sick @ 7:00 p.m.

Work on the Master Plan and the Policies and Procedures was postponed until February.

The Select Board had their January 16th meeting in the Library and were very appreciative for our hospitality.  Thank you to Nancy for serving such a variety of delicious snacks!

Nancy will contact Stephanie Wheeler at WES and invite the students to the Fish and Game Presentation on Bobcats in April.  She will inquire if the time should remain at 2:00 p.m. or be changed to 1:30 p.m.

New Business

Cathryn handed out a very detailed description of important guidelines if there is a need for a substitute due to sickness or absence.

Marty ordered Quicken Home and Business 2018 (40% savings).

Leslie thanked the Trustees for their patience and flexibility when scheduling meetings over the course of the last year.  She inquired whether she should resign due to schedule conflicts or continue as a trustee.  Both Nancy and Marty were willing to continue to make accommodations.  Leslie expressed her sincere gratitude.

Nancy questioned if the desk chair and mailbox needed replacing (John Collins has added a handle and magnet closure to the mailbox.  Thank you, John!).  She wondered if a doormat on the outside step might eliminated some of the sand tracked into the library.  Marty offered an extra doormat he had at home.  Nancy volunteered a brighter light bulb for the closet.  The Original Forms are now located in a new bright yellow folder in the drawer with the museum passes.

The meeting ended at 5:00 p.m.  The next meeting of the Webster Free Public Library will be on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 4 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Leslie Collins, Secretary
