Reference Databases

These databases are free, thanks to the New Hampshire State Library’s NHewLINK project.  To use them, click on LIBRARY CATALOG, log in, and scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll see a button for EBSCO.

  • Audience: High School and Up
  • Content: Provides full-text for over 1,900 periodicals covering nearly all subjects including general reference, business, health, and much more.

Academic Search Premier

  • Audience: Adult
  • Content: Provides full-text for more than 1,700 journals covering the social sciences, humanities, general science, multi-cultural studies, education, and much more.

Newspaper Source

  • Audience: Middle School and Up
  • Content: Provides full-text for regional US newspapers, newswires, newspaper columns as well as other sources.  Also contains indexing and abstracts for national newspapers

Searchasaurus

  • Audience: Elementary School and Up
  • Content: A colorful and easy to use search interface for elementary and middle school students.  It includes Primary Search and Middle Search Plus as well as EBSCO Animals and Funk and Wagnall’s New World Encyclopedia

TOPICsearch

  • Audience: Middle School and Up
  • Content: Explore social, political and economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics.  Contains more than 400,000 full-text articles selected by teachers and librarians, an online dictionary and more than 2,500 diverse reference sources including newspaper, biographies, opinion polls, book reviews, and government information

  • Audience: Middle School and Up
  • Content: Provides full-text for nearly 150 popular magazines covering general topics appropriate for middle and junior high school research

MAS Ultra: School Edition

MAS Ultra: Public Library Edition

  • Audience: High School and Up
  • Content: Designed for high school students, it provides full-text for over 515 general interest and current events magazines.

Business Source Premier

  • Audience: High School and Up
  • Content: Provides full-text for more than 1,000 journals covering business, management, economic, finance, banking, accounting and more.

ERIC

  • Audience: Adult
  • Content: Contains citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education related journals as well as full-text of more than 2,200 digests.

Professional Development Collection

  • Audience: Adult
  • Content: Provides a highly specialized collection of over 515 full-text journals designed for professional educators.

NoveList

  • Audience: Elementary School and Up
  • Content: A reader’s advisory service that provides information and resources on more than 100,000 titles, and 75,000 full-text reviews to help locate the best in fiction.

NoveList K-8

  • Audience: Preschool and Up
  • Content: A reader's advisory service that specifically targets children and young adults. It contains materials for all K-8 grade levels and includes picture books, children's "chapter" books and young adult titles.
