The Secretary’s reports for both December 18 and 20 were reviewed and accepted.

The Treasurer’s report for January was reviewed and accepted.  Our balance by the year’s end was $100.  Marty transferred $2000 from the Mainstay Account.

Old Business

Cathryn participated a 90-minute phone conference on January 10 with a Hoopla associate.  She has sent the Trustees links to Webinars on training (https://register.gotowebinar.com/rt/9078336944787945475) (2/6 @ 11-11:35, 2/18 @ 2-2:35) and a brief overview (www.hoopladigital.com).  She will announce the Hoopla service to our residents on both the town website and our Facebook page after the public launch on January 27.  Patrons will be able to download a total of four movies, audiobooks, eBooks, television shows, comics and/or music albums each month.

Jim Ramanek will present on Thursday, January 23 from 2-3:30.  The Squam Lake Science Center will present Creatures of the Night on Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. NH Audubon will present NH Raptors, Their Lives and Survival on Friday, May 22 at 7 p.m.  Nancy has scheduled Women’s Suffrage from NH Humanities for Friday, Oct 2 at 7 p.m.

The Trustees will attend the Select Board Meeting on Monday, January 27 @ 6:30 p.m. to present the budget.

The Trustees will participate in a Book Sale at the elections on Tuesday, February 11.  Set up will be on Monday at 9 a.m.  On Tuesday, Marty will cover 8 a.m.-12 p.m., Nancy 12-4 p.m. and Leslie 4-7 p.m.  Clean up will be on Wednesday (time to be determined).  We will not have a Book Sale for the November election.

Movie times will stay at 7 p.m. on Friday nights after asking the attendees their time preference.  Nineteen people attended Downton Abbey.  Marty’s previews of the next three movies were a great success.  The following movies will be shown for the next three months:  The Good Liar, 2/14 @ 7 p.m., Dark Waters, 3/20 @ 7 p.m., A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, 4/10 @ 7 p.m.

Cathryn requested Sunday, February 23, Monday, February 24 and Wednesday, February 26 off for vacation.  All the Trustees approved.  Marty will facilitate the Book Group while Cathryn is on vacation.

Presently the toilet does not allow enough water into the tank so that it will flush completely.  Leslie Palmer is contacting the plumber.

New Business

On Wednesday, February 12 from 8:30-noon, Kaitlin Camidge, the School Library Media Specialist from MVHS, has invited us to represent our library for a teen outreach event inviting students to obtain library cards and learn about accessing digital books from their hometown library.

Cathryn reported that Brenda Silver’s husband, Leslie, is now responsible for shoveling at the Town Hall.

Cathryn submitted the Annual Report for the Town Report.

Leslie reported that Stephenie Horne would not be able to attend the Trustee Meeting as planned due to a sick child.  Leslie volunteered to be a spokesperson for Stephenie.  After meeting with Stephenie prior to the meeting to both review the grant application and walk the school property, Leslie invited Stephenie to address the Trustees with her questions:

Would the Library be willing to fund purchasing three copies of a book for the Story Walk?

Would the Library be willing to promote the Story Walk, especially during the summer when school is closed?

The Trustees agreed they are willing to support and promote the Story Walk.  Their questions and suggestions are the following:

How often are the books going to be changed?

How many sets of three books are needed?

A suggestion was made to visit the Hopkinton Library and inquire about their existing Story Walk, view the number of stations, how often are the books changed and what seasons it is open.

Another suggestion was made that an inexpensive way to purchase three books at a time would be through the school’s Scholastic Book Club.  The school could chose the books and the Library could fund them.  Does the school participate in the Scholastic Book Club (or similar club)?  Would teachers be willing to donate some of their points to obtain books they would like to see in the Book Walk?

Will the purchased books for the Book Walk be stored in some manner for future use?

Nancy reported that 2020 is the 30th Anniversary of the Library being located at the Town Hall.  She wondered if there was any interest in an event/celebration.  This will be revisited in February.

The slogan for the Library Summer Program is Imagine Your Story. The theme will be Fairy Tales, Mythology/Fantasy.

The meeting ended at 5:14 p.m.  The next Trustee Meeting will be on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Leslie Collins, Secretary
