Trustees Meeting

January 23, 2019

 

           The meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m.  Present were Cathryn Clark-Dawe, Director, Nancy Picthall-French, Chairperson, Marty Bender, Treasurer and Leslie Collins, Secretary.  Also present were members of the Conservation Commission, Chris Schadler, Linda Clark, Isabel Brintnall and Nancy Rideout.

            The members of the Conservation Commission were present to express the desire to work together with the library to provide programming for the residents of Webster.  Different programs, their costs, a budget, publicizing and logistics were discussed.  Another meeting is planned after Town Meeting.    

The Secretary’s report for December was reviewed and accepted.

The Treasurer’s report for December was reviewed and accepted. Two adjustments were made by subtracting two magazine subscriptions, Cook’s Illustrated and Woman’s Day, from Expenses.  The January report through 1/23/19 was reviewed and accepted.  Marty gave Leslie a reimbursement check for $60.00 for Christmas arrangements for volunteers from Nancy Piper.

 

Old Business

            Marty will send the Webster Congregational Church a check for $50.00 in memory of Sue Barnes.

             The Celebration Bags will be a promotional vehicle informing residents about the resources at the library.  Receipts will be given to Marty and he will deduct costs from Miscellaneous, under “Gifts Given”.

            The next movie, His Gal Friday, will be 2/9/19 at 2 p.m. at the Meeting Room in the Town Hall.

            The revised handbook for oral Histories was reviewed and accepted.

            The hiking backpack was reviewed and accepted.

            Reviewing presentation ideas was postponed until the March meeting. 

 

New Business

          Cathryn shared a thank you card from Karen King for the holiday arrangement.  She has scheduled Magic by George for the Summer Reading Program for $425.  A rough draft of the Library’s Town Report was reviewed and accepted.

            Marty will prepare the audit and submit it to Wendy.  It is also time for him to register for another term as Treasurer.  Marty will invite Dot Bourque to a meeting so she can explain reasons why we should perhaps have our own server.

            Leslie will prepare the message board for the February movie and put it outside.  She sent a thank you note to Phil and Marylou Desmarais for their donation.  Leslie will arrive early for Dot Bourque’s computer classes and make sure the entryways are shoveled.  Leslie will also prepare/return the cart from the library for Dot’s computer classes.  Nancy will cover for Leslie when she is not available. (Dot has scheduled classes on Fridays from 1-3 p.m. on 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 3/1, 3/8, 3/22.  Leslie will not be here for the 2/8 class and will Nancy will cover.)  Leslie will be delivering two more Celebration Bags to the Food Pantry in February. 

            Nancy obtained a list of the new residents from Therese.  From June to December, fifty new residents moved into Webster.  At the February meeting, ways of informing them about the services at the library will be discussed.  Nancy has emailed Andrew Timmins regarding publicity, set up and equipment for his presentation in March.

             The meeting ended at 5:55 p.m.  The next meeting of the Webster Free Public Library will be on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.
