Webster Free Public Library

Trustees Meeting

December 19, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 4:14 p.m.  Present were Cathryn Clark-Dawe, Director, Nancy Picthall-French, Chairperson, Marty Bender, Treasurer and Leslie Collins, Secretary.

The Secretary’s report for November was reviewed and accepted after  the December movie’s name was changed from A Night to Remember to Remember the Night.  The October Budget Meeting notes were accepted after the date 12-31-18 was deleted as a vacation day for Cathryn because it is a holiday.

The Treasurer’s report for December was reviewed and accepted.  The End of the Year Budget Report for 2018 was reviewed and accepted.  Marty gave Leslie a reimbursement check for $25.00 for a Christmas gift card for Michael Sauve.

Old Business

Marty will send the Webster Congregational Church a check for $50.00 in memory of Sue Barnes.

Nancy received feedback from the NHLTA Listserv about funding options for the Celebration Bags.  The Celebration Bags could be a promotional vehicle informing residents about the resources at the library.

New Business

Marty will revise his handbook for oral histories.  He will add directions on how to download the interviews onto the computer.

Marty will look into changing movie days to Saturday.  Some people have expressed a preference for the 7 p.m. time because of their work schedule, other people have expressed a preference for the 2 p.m. time because they prefer not to drive at night.  Showing movies on Saturdays, instead of Fridays, at 2 p.m. might be a solution.

Cathryn will retype the release form in Marty’s handbook.  Once the handbook is revised, she will announce the audio recorder’s availability in the Grapevine.

Sarah Chalsma is our new volunteer on the first Wednesday of the month.

The Hiking Backpack is completed and Leslie will present it at the next meeting.  Leslie will prepare the message board for the December movie and put it outside.  She will send thank you notes to Linda Amos and Judy O’Donnell for their donations.

Nancy will ask Therese about how to obtain names of new residents in order to give them welcome information about the library.

Cathryn reviewed the number of people who used each of the library passes.  It was decided to continue with all of them.

Ideas were generated about presentations for 2019.  They included:  The Mentalist, Ask A Muslin Anything, the Mt. Washington Observatory, the New England Irish Harp Orchestra, Stargazing by The NH Astronomical Society (early October, invite WES), and Barbara Corliss who does a presentation on genealogy.  Sally Becker is available to do blood pressure checks.  The Library of Congress offers a list of authors/websites/interviews available for viewing.  YouTube offers a wide range of topics also.  More discussion will follow in January.

The meeting ended at 5:30 p.m.  The next meeting of the Webster Free Public Library will be on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Leslie Collins, Secretary
