Trustees Meeting

October 17, 2018

 

           The meeting was called to order at 3:10 p.m.  Present were Cathryn Clark-Dawe, Director, Nancy Picthall-French, Chairperson, Marty Bender, Treasurer and Leslie Collins, Secretary.  Dot Bourque was also present.

Dot Bourque inquired if Cathryn had heard from UNH concerning storing the Webster Town Reports on their website.  Cathryn will let Dot know when she hears something.  Marty asked if the oral histories could be stored on the Historical Society’s website.  Dot encouraged a discussion between the Library and the Historical Society. 

Dot offered free computer classes at the library.  She asked if Cathryn could see if there is any interest (Facebook Page, Grapevine, Merrimack Voice, questionnaire in the library), and if so, in what area specifically.  January was set as a target date, sometime in the afternoon.  

  

The Secretary’s report for August was reviewed and accepted.

The Treasurer’s report for October was reviewed and accepted.  Nancy submitted the receipt for the Message Board letters.  

 

Old Business

Set up for the Hungry Heart movie/panel discussion was arranged.  The set up from Friday’s Movie Night on Friday,10-19 will stay in place for Hungry Heart on Wednesday, October 24.  Nancy contacted Stephanie Wheeler at WES, who did an email blast to WES, MVMS and MVHS parents. Leslie will do the message board for Hungry Heart after Friday’s movie.  Nancy will contact Leslie Palmer and inquire if after the presentation, the library can lend the Hungry Heart movie to patrons.  Leslie C. will be out of town. 

The movie on November 16 will be His Girl Friday.  Marty will contact and inquire how the Bradford Library was permitted to show Joyeux Noel.  Marty will contact Sony to ask for permission to show Joyeux Noel for December, if necessary.  The December movie date was changed to Friday, December 28 because the floors in the Town Hall are being sanded.  Nancy contact Therese about the changed date for the movie.

A budget meeting was set for Tuesday, October 30 at 1 p.m.  Marty will bring the budget identifying the money expended and the balance for each line item.

          Cathryn will make the digital changes on the library website for the revisions made on the policies, procedures and bylaws.

            Landscaping was postponed until the spring.

            Nancy attended the Master Plan Meeting and an interest/concern was expressed in saving the historical records.  Ideas will be discussed at the budget meeting on October 30.

            Nancy will pick up an Everyday Day Café gift card for $50 and deliver it to the Hopkinton Library.

 

New Business

          Marty gave Wendy the Cross Plumbing and Heating bill for $187.30.  Wendy will submit the bill to Leslie P.

            Cathryn reviewed the progress on her goals for the Mid Term Review.

            The Hiking Backpack is completed and Leslie will present it at the next meeting.  She will contact Leslie Palmer, Fish & Game, and the Corps of Engineers to inquire if there are any trail maps available for Webster.  Leslie will contact Peg Foss to see if the Thanksgiving bags are due the first Wednesday in November or later in the month closer to the holiday.  Leslie will pick up a $25 gift card from Dunkin Donuts for Michael for a holiday gift.

            Nancy will order the Christmas arrangements from Nancy Piper.  Nancy will inquire about innovative ways to fund the Celebration Bags on the Library List Serve.

           

The meeting ended at 5:45 p.m.  A Budget Meeting for the Webster Free Public Library will be held on Tuesday, October 30 at 1 p.m.  The next meeting of the Webster Free Public Library will be on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
