September 24, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.  Present were Cathryn Clark-Dawe, Director, Nancy Picthall-French, Chairperson, Marty Bender, Treasurer and Leslie Collins, Secretary.  Kim Fortune, CJ Young and Leslie Palmer were also present.

The Secretary’s report for August was reviewed and accepted.

The Treasurer’s reports for August and September were reviewed and accepted.  In the September budget, CDs and DVDs were moved into the Materials budget line.  Marty will give Wendy the Cross Plumbing and Heating bill for $187.30.

Old Business

Kim Fortune, CJ Young and Leslie Palmer attended the meeting to discuss the viewing of the movie Hungry Heart and the discussion panel following the film.  Two dates were chosen, Wednesday, October 17 or Wednesday, October 24.  Since the movie is 93 minutes long, starting time will be 6:30, hopefully followed by a discussion with 3 panel members.  The participants for the discussion panel are yet to be determined.  CJ Young, Director of Nursing at the Merrimack County Jail, volunteered to be one of the participants, if needed.  It was suggested that a survey be distributed after the movie/panel discussion to determine if there is an interest in Narcan training.  Kim expressed an interest in advertising with posters and in The Grapevine.  The parents of the Webster Elementary School, Merrimack Valley Middle School and High School will be invited on the schools’ websites in their respective newsletters. Nancy will contact the schools and request that an announcement be included in their next newsletter.  Leslie Palmer had samples of bookmarks and resource guides on prevention, treatment and recovery from Drug Free NH.  Leslie offered to contact the Fire Department, firm up the date, and make an announcement on the town webpage.

The Bylaws were reviewed and revised.

Movie selections for November and December will be made at October’s meeting.  Marty will contact and inquire how the Bradford Library was permitted to show Joyeux Noel.  Marty will contact Sony to ask for permission to show Joyeux Noel for December, if necessary.

Marty is planning to interview Theda Stone again and ask her to reminisce about growing up with George Little.  He plans to download the first oral history onto his computer and onto two computers in the library.  Eventually, the oral histories will be stored in the Cloud.
