Mission Statement
The Tax Collector's office is responsible for collecting revenue for property taxes, current use, yield and excavation taxes. We strive to respond to all inquiries in a courteous and timely manner.
The tax year runs from April 1 to March 31. Property taxes are billed semi-annually, due in July and December. The July bill is an estimated bill, based on 1/2 of the previous year's total. Tax rates are set by the State Department of Revenue Administration in October. The December bill is calculated with the new tax rate, multiplied by the property assessment, less the bill that was due in July.
