About Webster
The Town of Webster was incorporated on July 4, 1860, previously a portion of
Boscawen called West Boscawen, and currently has a population of 1,808 and 1375 registered voters.
Webster is made up of two districts -- the agricultural/residential
zone and the second zone is residential only which covers the Pillsbury Lake District (Map 10);
Webster is often referred to as a bedroom town. The Town is governed by a
Board of three Selectmen. A more detailed "Welcome to Webster" information
booklet is available at the Town Office and located elsewhere on this
website.
Webster is part of the Merrimack Valley School District, which is
comprised of five Towns. These Towns are Webster, Salisbury, Boscawen,
Penacook and Loudon.
Webster contracts with Cross Country Appraisal Group, LLC for
assessing services. A Town-wide revaluation is planned for 2013. The
parcel list is not currently available on line, but copies are available
at the Town Office for $1 per assessment card.
Webster is home to the Blackwater Dam, consisting of over 1,100 acres,
owned and managed by the US Government.
Building Permits are currently issued only for new home construction. The
applications are reviewed by the Deputy Fire Chief. The
Driveway Permits are reviewed by the Planning Board and the Deputy Fire Chief.
The Town contracts with a company to do the Septic Reviews prior to
submission to the State for final approval.
